Ceremonies for the Credit River

All are welcome to participate in a monthly traditional Anishinaabe ceremony on the edge of the Credit River to honour the Spirit of Nibi (water). The ceremony will begin with a smudge; we will pray for the water, sing to the water, and feed the water.

  • Because we are in a specific Anishinaabe Ceremony, women wear long skirts and men long pants to show our respect for our Grandmothers, for Mother Earth and for ourselves.

  • Women on their moon-time (menstruating) are asked not to join the ceremony as they are in their own powerful ceremony. They can still attend and help with prayers from a distance.

  • Remember why you are showing up. This ceremony is about Nibi (the water).

  • Drugs and alcohol are not permitted.

  • No dogs.

  • Please remember this is a ceremony, not a photo opportunity or time for chit chatting.

  • You are welcome to bring a drum or shaker if you have one.
